About LITLG — Life in the Long Grass Hand-Dyed Yarn

Hand-dyed skeins of indie sock yarn from LITLG

What LITLG is

LITLG (Life in the Long Grass) is an established indie hand-dyed yarn studio, dyeing small-batch knitting yarn since 2014. Every skein is dyed by hand in nuanced, sophisticated, wearable colourways, across a wide range of bases — superwash and non-superwash, woollen-spun and worsted-spun. LITLG collaborates with indie knitting designers to create yarn bundles for popular patterns, sells directly through litlg.com, and ships worldwide. The studio is based in West Cork, Ireland, and is known for its sophisticated colourways and friendly customer service.

How LITLG dyes its yarn

LITLG hand-dyes every skein in small batches. The studio uses non-toxic acid dyes, low-impact fibre-reactive dyes, and natural dyes, finished with a food-grade setting agent. A double-setting process is used to prevent colour bleeding. Dye water is recycled to reduce waste.

Where the wool comes from

LITLG sources its undyed yarn from small, ethical farms in Ireland, England, Uruguay, Peru, Argentina, France, and Portugal. All wool used is mulesing-free.
