Semi Solids for all our White Bases

Variegated for all our White Bases

Our specialized bases and colorway options.

Hinterland Finering Weight and DK Weight is our non-superwash rustic base BFL/Gotland blend, it has a natural light gray color, below are the colorways we designed for it especially.

Earth is a natural gray Merino/Yak/Nylon base below are the special colorways we have designed for this base.  We recommend it for sock and fine sweater and shawl projects.

Corriedale fingering weight yarn is a 2ply light woolly soft yarn, non-superwash so it takes color differently than our white bases, it is softer and more tonal in depth.  We recommend it for fine sweaters, colorwork and shawl projects.

3.Environmentally Aware Hand Dyeing Methods & Packaging

We dye using professional wash fast and light fast dyes which have minimum impact on the environment as we exhaust each dye pot so all the color is absorbed onto our yarn and the water is clear and safe to use again for our next batch. This is achieved by meticulous calculations and recipes that we have created to be as exact efficient and environmentally friendly as we can.

All our labels are made from 100% recycled paper and our wool is sourced from small farms in South America and British breeds.

4.The Nature of Hand Dyed Yarns

Our recipes are very precise and we take our time to replicate each colorway exactly – even still there might be slight color differences between different batches, this is the nature of the process.

Colorways will vary depending on the fiber content of the yarn. A superwash merino for example will take color differently to a non-super washed merino. Ply and yarn weight also affect how colors absorb into the fiber so a colorway in 4ply fingering may be slightly different when applied to the same yarn base in DK.

We put a lot of effort into photographing and displaying our yarns, however, it is difficult to produce 100% accuracy of color due to the large discrepancy between different monitors and how they display it. Our photos should be used as a guide only.

Speckles and spots of color may be present in some colorways; they are generally meant to be there as the yarn is hand-dyed using our hands to create some colorways – sometimes you may find a spot on a skein this is common with hand-dying and adds to its unique charm.

Some of our Semi-Solid colorways are dyed from the white of the skein to the depth of color we want to create therefore there will be areas of color that look faded/lighter/show the white of the skein. This is part of the hand-dyeing process – we are not trying to create a solid color like you would get in vat dyed and we sometimes layer our semi-solids to achieve different depths

5.Minimum Order Quantity

Our minimum order quantity is 4 kg (40 Skeins) with the minimum amount per colorway 6 skeins. When you order more than 10kg (100 Skeins) of yarn the discount tier takes effect on each yarn base in your order, you can view the discount price tier below.

6.Payment

Normally we require full payment prior to dyeing your order by bank transfer to our Wise.com or to our bank account.
But due to the pandemic, we are happy to wait a few weeks and invoice you nearer the time we will ship your order so that you get a quicker turnaround time to recoup your costs.

If you can avail of Transferwise.com in your country we recommend it to lower the transfer costs.
If you want to pay through Paypal there will be an extra charge of 5 or 6 % added to the total cost which includes delivery cost we will work out the fee before we invoice you.

7.Production Time – our monthly ordering system

We dye wholesale orders in monthly batches. There are a limited number of dye slots available each month so ordering in advance is advisable. All orders booked in to start at the beginning of any month will be finished and sent out the last week of that month therefore a 4 to 5 week production time from the start of dyeing.

8.Deliveries

Shipping is charged by weight, we will do our best to find the most cost-effective way of shipping your yarn to you. We will advise you of this cost once we receive – order. We ship either via Irish Post where we register each shipment or by courier to Ireland, UK, Europe, US, Japan, China, and International destinations.

We ship internationally boxes by courier and we ship on different days if you have more than one box, so as to get your order through customs quicker.

We do not take responsibility for lost or missing orders or import fees, charges or VAT.

9.Returns

We only accept returns if the yarn is damaged by us and went out unnoticed or in the unlikely event that we made a mistake with your order. We ask you to read Nature of Hand Dyed Yarns section on the previous page as we do not accept any of those points as a reason to refund your order. If you do return goods to us will be responsible for the return postage cost and the yarns must be returned in the condition they were sent.
